NSF Graduate Research Fellowship 2019-22

PhD student Biological Sciences

Drexel faculty mentor: Jacob Russell

I am a first-year PhD Student in Biology, working under Dr. Jacob Russell. My current research employs genomics and metagenomics to shed light on the relationships between ants and the bacteria that some groups of ants house within their digestive systems. This work combines a deep love for insects with my past genetics experience, while introducing some much-needed Bioinformatics skills. Previous research experiences include work in the labs of Dr. Neil Tsutsui, Dr. Chelsea Specht, and Dr. Robert Van Steenwyk at UC Berkeley, all of which have contributed greatly my research career, including (but certainly not limited to) being selected for the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship.
